Last weekend Kristian fought a hard fight in his Debut Semi Pro MMA bout at the East Coast Fight Factory Event held in Norwich. He stuck to the game plan throughout the bout but just fell short of a close decision to his larger opponent. Tom White's opponent unfortunatly pulled out on the day which left him without a fight. Nevertheless it was a great weekend.

Four members competed in a Mixed Martial Arts show held in Norwich on Saturday Night. Mark Durrington, Jordon Read. Alex Harris and Andrew Dennis competed in Amateur bouts. Jordon stepped in to take his first fight with just three days notice and was unfortunate to lose against his more experienced opponent by a guillotine choke. Mark Durrington dominated his opponent with take downs and was victorious by way of decision after the fight went the distance. Alex (Golden Boy) Harris looked confident from the bell and submitted his opponent by rear naked choke within the first 3 minutes of the first round. Andrew (The Adonis) Dennis was fighting an unbeaten opponent but made easy work of the bout. He also dominated with take downs and various submission attempts before finishing his opponent with a rear naked choke at 2 minutes 16 seconds of the first round. Well done to all the guys who competed and those who helped with the preperation leading up to the event.
Alex Harris competed in the Spiritual Warrior MMA Tournament on Sunday 15th August. Alex represented Avaddon MMA in the under 84kg weight category. He dominated his first fight and won by an arm bar submission after taking his opponent down to the ground. Alex then won a place in the final and repeated his success with a straight arm bar in the second round.
There were 5 other Avaddon members competing in this tournament, Aaron Jeffrey took bronze, Mark Durrington, Kuba Banach & Tom White took silver and Jordon Reed and Mark Durrington put in good perfomances but were unsuccessful on the day. Well done to all the lads.

Former Youth Olympic judo silver medallist Dominic King came to Avaddon MMA on thursday to take a well attended Junior and Senior seminar. Dominic is a Multi British Champion and took an energetic and enjoyable 3 hour session. Dominic taught a variaty of different throws and techneques which will hopefully prove to be benifical to Avaddon memebers when they are competing. Thanks to Dominic and hope to have him back in the future. Attatched is a pic of dom (in the judo Gi) with the junior and senior members of Avaddon.
The competition, held in Peterborough was the first for all members from Avaddon MMA. Everyone fought hard and gained experience at a competitive level, with a minimium of two bouts.
Alex Harris picked up the Gold in the 84kg category after winning all three of his bouts in impressive fashion showing he has a solid all round game. Krists fought hard in the final of the 74kg category but got caught in an armbar, leaving him with a well earned silver medal.
John Kunzi had four bouts in the open weight category. He just missed out to get into the final by losing by a split decision but recovered and won his next two, to take the bronze with a tight armbar in the first round.
Jordon Reed (84kg) fought hard and just fell short of the Bronze medal after winning one of his bouts by Ground and pound. Tom Humphrey also narrowly missed out on the Bronze in a close bout that went the distance.
Well done to all members that took part on the day and congratulations to all that took medals.
Avaddon MMA had three club members compete in the event in Cambridge on May 1st.
Tom White 66kg featherweight amateur MMA - Tom looked confident in the build up to his match against Ben Jones (Force MMA) and showed why he was so confident, with a flawless performance against a game opponent. Tom took Ben down to the mat and dominated in his opponents guard, throwing some shots to the body. Tom stuffed a few of his opponents submission attempts with ease and won the bout with a unanimous decision.
Madars Vikas 75kg K1 bout (Kick Boxing) - Madars fought the more experienced James Ro (Diesel Gym) Madars was the much sharper striker on the night and started off strongly. However Madars got caught with a couple of hooks, that rocked him and very nearly ended the bout. Madars quickly composed himself and came back strongly in the second and third, knocking his opponent down twice and earning himself a well deserved unanimous decision.
Mark Durrington 70kg Amateur MMA - Mark (Avaddonmma) dominated the start of his match up against Philip Hearn (South Beds Kickboxing Academy), Taking his opponent down several times at the beginning but got slightly out positioned in the second half of the bout and lost a majority decision.

Celebrating Jay's win.
Avaddon’s Jay Cuccinello fought an intelligent fight against previously unbeaten Cory Tate at Watford on Sat 6th March. Cory was the local lad and the strong crowd favourite.
It was Jay’s debut fight at a new weight of 66kg after fighting his first two bouts at Lightweight (70kg). Jay dominated from the start with takedowns and ground and pound. However Cory showed he was more than just a dangerous striker when he attempted numerous submissions from his back. Jay kept to the game plan and took a unanimous decision and a well deserved win to go 3-0 in his semi pro career. Jays fight will be shown on LA Muscle TV, Sky channel 281 on the 14th of March.
Well done to Jay and all that helped in his preparation up to the fight.
Mark Durrington (AvaddonMMA) fought in his debut amateur lightweight fight against Liam Wade (Fighting Fit Martial Arts) Liam Wade was the much more experienced fighter and narrowly beat Mark on a decision.
Matt Portass also fought in his debut fight at a catch weight of 86kg against the more experienced Ben Pierson (Norwich Kick Stop). Matt looked extremly confident and stuck to a game plan that saw him win by rear naked choke at the end of the first round.
Lee Waters Was fighting in his third amateur bout against Perry Davis in a middleweight match up. Perry started the bout strongly and put Lee on the back foot but Lee soon took control of the octogan and won a well deserved decision.
Wisbech based Gregorz Jakibiak fought at light heavyweight against Will Jones (Combat Ju Jitsu) in his debut bout. Both fighters came out aggresively from the first bell but Greg did enough to take the decision after almost submitting Will with a guillotine choke.
Louie Martins was matched up against Lloyd Farrell (Elite Force MMA) in a lightweight bout. Louie proved to be too much from the start after taking Lloyd down to the mat and dominating him before submitting him with a triangle choke
Peterborough based fighter Jay Cuccienello will be fighting on the 6th of March in Watford in what will be his third Semi Pro bout. Jay has won both previous bouts impressively.
Jay will be moving down in weight from 70kg to 66kg - his first fight at featherweight. This fight will be a step up in class and the first of Jays fights to be televised. (LA MUSCLE TV).
